Losing My Voice

Izzie and I found ourselves with some unexpected mommy and Izzie time today. When I asked Izzie what she wanted to do, she said watch tv to which I immediately said no. I offered to read to her and she jumped at the opportunity.

She grab the book that we had started, but hadn’t gotten very far. We raced to my bed (I won!) and laid down, ready to read.

I began reading and thought maybe we would read a chapter or two before Izzie was ready to move onto something else. But no, each time we reached the end of a chapter, she wanted more. So we kept reading. Eventually, my voice started became scratchy and I really need something to drink, but Izzie instead that I keep reading.

Looking at the clock, I told Izzie that she needed to get dressed and have a snack before gymnastics. We headed downstairs, grabbed a snack, and I worked on my puzzle and she played with her Legos. But then we were finished, and I told her if she had everything ready for gymnastics, we could read a little bit more. She quickly put all of her things by the door. And we read, until her ride pulled into the driveway and she had to leave.

So, while I may not have a voice, reading to Izzie is something that I will never turn down!
