Sitting around the table, dinner was underway. We had ordered a stuffed cheese pizza from Giordano’s, but Sophia had decided she wanted to eat cereal for dinner. Talking and eating, sharing the best parts of our days, just like any other night.
All of a sudden, Sophia swung her hand, hitting her green plastic spoon that had been resting in her bowl of cereal and milk. She hit the spoon in just the right way, and it flew out of the bowl…landing on the floor.
There was a moment of silence, so quiet you could hear a pin drop. I can only imagine that Sophia was fearful she was going to be in trouble. Then, Jim began to laugh. And then, Sophia burst into giggles and she didn’t stop. Her giggles were contagious and soon, we were all laughing. But nobody laughed as much as Sophia. Before we new it, she had tears running down her cheeks.
Laughter is so needed sometimes. Laughing together on this night at dinner was just what our family needed.
