Sure I can!

Weekday mornings are a constant flurry of activity. Getting the girls and myself ready for school and work can be tough, but some morning everything just falls into place.

Yesterday morning was one such morning. I had missed snoozing my alarm, so no workout. I did manage 10 minutes of yoga before going to grab a quick shower. Sophia woke up and agree to have breakfast while I was in the shower. That would help make things a bit smoother. By the time I had gotten out of the shower, Sophia had finished breakfast and Izzie had gotten out of bed as well. Getting dressed was next on the agenda. Eventually, we were all dressed and downstairs.

Izzie needed breakfast and I needed to make my morning smoothie and lunch. And this is where the morning can go either way…it can be great or it can fall apart. On this morning, it was great! Sophia decided she was going to be my little helper and her constant response was, “Sure I can!” And it made me smile each time. She helped my make my smoothie and my yogurt for lunch. She helped her sister get a pair of socks. She helped me pack up my lunch bag. And each time, the response was, “Sure I can!”

While not all mornings are this smooth, when they do happen, I feel like we are winning the day. And when they don’t, I need to remember Sophia’s “Sure I can!” attitude and go into the day with a positive attitude.

  1. Sounds like one of those mornings where the moments stretch out and give us time to notice, to see and hear with our full attention, even when we’ve missed our snooze!
